Castlebar Town Council is responsible for many services within the town.  Select the Service you need from the links below.

An efficient road transportation system provides the necessary infrastructure to support economic and social development of Castlebar Town. Castlebar Town Council plays an important role in the maintenance and improvement of the road network in the town thus supporting the local economy.

Mayo County Council retains charge of the National Primary and Secondary routes through the town but the Town Council is the Road Authority for the majority of the internal town road network.

Nearly 28km of roadway are in the charge of Castlebar Town Council. This figure is set to rise as more residential estates are taken in charge by the Town Council. Funding for the maintenance and upkeep of these roads is received primarily through the Department of Transport and Castlebar Town Council’s own resources (budget revenue). Typical works involve the upgrade of the town’s road pavement (surfaces), the restoration and construction of footpaths and the restoration of the town’s laneways.
