Castlebar Town Council introduced Pay & Display system in 2008.

Resident's Parking Permits

A Residents Parking Permit is a permit that can be obtained from Castlebar Town Council for residents who reside in areas where pay and display/disc parking is operated. An application form and accompanying documentation must be submitted to Castlebar Town Council and whereby the council is satisfied, the information is correct a permit will be issued for an annual fee, which is subject to change within the Bye-Laws. . Applications will only be accepted from the person who wishes to obtain the permit and only if the form is fully completed and accompanied by all required documentation. Castlebar Town Council reserves the right to ask for additional information to support applications or renewals. Only one permit is allowed per applicant.

Possession of a Residents Parking Permit does not guarantee the holder a public parking space. A Residents Parking Permit does not authorise parking in a prohibited manner or place. A Residents Parking Permit is only valid for the vehicle and street/s indicated on the permit.

Monthly Parking Permit

A Monthly Parking Permit may be obtained by all members of the public to enable them to park in the car parks (i.e Market Square Car Park, Castle Street Carpark or Spencer Street Car Park) for the duration of one month. This permit has a monthly fee, which is subject to change within the Bye-Laws.

A Monthly Parking Permit does not authorise parking in a prohibited manner or place. A Monthly Parking Permit is only valid for the car park schedule indicated on the permit. To obtain a monthly parking permit please call to the offices of Castlebar Town Council in Marsh House with your car registration and the nominal fee.

Pay & Display Charges

Castlebar Town Council have introduced  Pay and Display Parking Meters to Castlebar.  Over 68 meters have be installed throughout the town at designated locations.

The Parking Meters will not give change so it will be necessary to have the correct fee to hand.

Receipt

The Pay and Display meter provides the motorists with a receipt to display on the windshield of the vehicle which can also be used as proof of payment.

Charges and Business Hours

Parking Charges apply

• Between the hours of 8.30am and 18.30 pm – Monday - Saturday 
• Between the houss of 8.30am and 18.30 pm - Monday - Sunday (Dunnes Car Park)

Hourly Parking

The charge for On-Street  Parking  €1 per hour and the charge for Car Park Parking is €0.50 per hour except Dunnes Stores Carp Park which is €1 per hour.

Since 1st July 2010 all car park charges are subject to VAT of 21%.

Monthly Parking

The charge for montly parking permits  for Castle Street and Market Square Car Parks is currenlty €30 per month (incl. VAT @ 21%). If 6 months permits are purchased a discount of 10% is given i.e €162 and if 12 month permit is purchased a discount of 20% if given i.e €288.

The charge for monthly parking permits for Spencer Street Car Park is currently €18 per month (incl. VAT @ 21%). If 6 months permits are purchased a discount of 10% is given i.e €97.20 and if 12 month permit is purchased a discount of 20% if given i.e €172.80.
